When I’m painting, I like listening to classical music typically to make my paintings. Other times I’m keying in on the mood in my painting and listening to music that fits that mood.
There’s a lot more to showing visual arts and conveying a message. The choice of colours, those that are saturated are more lively and maybe positive. Others are dull which could either be somber or peaceful. It’s the interaction of the various pieces that make each piece more effective in conveying that message.
Not every artist comes to their medium with an intention. I’m one that does, but there are plenty of other times where I’d like to simply get an emotion down and will just let go.
That’s fun. It’s the childhood experience of art that comes back to the surface.
I’m a big fan of Polish Countertenor Jakub Jozef Orlinski, and listening to his unusual voice makes me think of all the wonderful ways that we can create. When you get to hear his normal speaking voice (which is much lower), and how he believes you just need to train your voice in a particular way, it’s possible to achieve what might otherwise seem impossible for a male voice.
As a woman who has an alto singing voice (rather low), it does make me think that I could achieve something higher if I wanted to. Perhaps, like art, we all start somewhere, and with the right conditions, we could learn to be something more.
