From a book Finding your Artistic Voice, there was a concept of doing what is uniquely yours and diving head deep into it. I’ve also heard of the concept (originally from Youtube videos by Struthless) from like making the same thing 100x over, and eventually you’ll get to what you actually want to create.
My trip to Malaysia and Singapore has peaked my interest to make some art that reflects what I got to see, however I also would like to continue my art of Toronto. Almost like the two elements of me. I’ve thought an idea of doing a split screen but perhaps that would be a bit tacky.
Here’s my first unfinished work above, homage to my grandfather on my dad’s side who during one of his many ventures, made a “Kopitiam”, or coffee house.
I tried some of the coffee in Singapore and it was addictive. I had sadly ordered some kind of tea-coffee mix that was cold, and when my dad gave me his coffee to try, I probably drank more than my fair share of the cup.
