I’ve been listening to Mindwandering by Moshe Bar and the role of the default mode network. The idea is that your mind makes associations with similar ideas. However the difficulty is that we create ideas based on past experiences and some associations may be unknown to us consciously.
I tend to listen to multiple books at once so I start finding connections between books and delight when there is overlap. My latest interest has been sparked by a book called Quantum Physics Made Me Do It by Jeremie Harris. It then led me down a path of videos of seeing lasers split, light being not particles but instead waves. A pretty pattern is there, created naturally but it is not always apparent to the eye.
It reminds me that there is a lot beneath what is obvious and so much more to see if we stay curious.
This is like how we have to remain open on how to paint and to make connections either physically as water continues pathways when painting, or putting concepts on a painting that maybe wasn’t actually in the reference.
